Balboa Park

Balboa Park is located just minutes from downtown San Diego. Admittance is free to the park grounds, botanical building, outdoor gardens, and some attractions. Admission charges vary at the other cultural attractions; view prices by visiting the individual websites for the attractions of choice.

San Diego Zoo

The San Diego Zoo is a world famous zoo in Balboa Park. It houses over 3,700 animals of more than 650 species and subspecies.

Birch Aquarium

Explore where the wonders of the ocean come alive! The mission of Birch Aquarium is to provide ocean science education, to interpret Scripps Institution of Oceanography research, and to promote ocean conservation. There are interactive tide pools and exhibitions for all things under the sea in a beautiful oceanside building.

Old Town

Old Town San Diego State Historic Park, located in the Old Town neighborhood of San Diego, is a state protected historical park. It commemorates the early days of the town of San Diego and includes many historic buildings from the period 1820 to 1870.

From expansive sandy beaches to secluded alcoves, rocky cliffs, wave-shaping reefs, living tide pools and everything in between, the beaches in San Diego are as varied as the towns that surround them.
